for ohio residents and expatriates

i have a request. i'm idly collecting whatever information about bizarre things and occurrances that exist in ohio, or that at least have their origins here. i'm not really so concerned about people from here, although we've certainly had our share of weirdos (mark mothersbaugh, anyone?) i'm looking for things that are less well known . . . things ( Read more... )

Good luck with your compilation!

* Interestingly, on the "east side" of the US, the Wright Pat(terson) Air Force Base, near Dayton holds, reports say, the largest amount of UFO material after "Hanger 51" out in Nevada. It has been confirmed they are holding "classified, sensitive" material of that nature, but to what extent of course I myself do not know. Just a quick note.

* Columbus, the capital is US-headquarters for Abercrombie & Fitch and The Limited line of companies, which includes Bath & Body Works and White Barn Candle Co. Big Lots / Odd Lots originated there as well, as did Lazarus, whose first store alas, just last year closed down (the building was, literally, 150 years old. Whew!)

I've always been fascinated with the idea of urban exploration and abandoned sights. I've been to The Ridges (although not inside it). In high school, some friends and I took a nightime excursion to Mudhouse Mansion (http://www.forgottenoh.com/mudhouse.html) in my good old hometown of Lancaster. We didn't go inside, but we did go right up to it and look in some of the cracks. It was spooky, but mostly because we were young, it was dark, and we were full of adrenaline.

i've been inside the ridges . . . it's pretty spooky, or at least it was. i think the creepiest part of it was the kid's playroom that i found. it was still covered in chalk drawings and it had a shattered piano in the corner.

thanks for the link.
