Not to be serious, but an aspect of this that can be tough for the ordinary female-wired brain to understand is that the - I'll call it "sexual potential evaluation" part of the ordinary male-wired brain is a background system process. There has been research showing that in general female brains do better at processing multiple inputs than male brains, but this is a special case: its not even terribly concious most of the time. May not see the dishes in the sink, the pee on the seat - but can tell you an overall impression of any and all females who were there regardless of whether they actually "thought" about it

I've read This is Your Brain on Music. It might seem impudent to judge what someone who has actively researched the subject says, but I suspect he gets a lot of details wrong but asks a lot of the right questions and makes for a fascinating read
