Dentists and Needles

Today I rose early for an 8:30 appointment with the dentist.  This was no ordinary appointment.  This was for a filling.  This means that the sadistic tendencies many dentists try to disguise are unmasked and they let the gore fly.  Fortunately for me, I was in my favorite dental-hygienists chair and she keeps the tone of things bubbly.  She does

yes... well I have more than one filling waiting to be filled but I have to wait until january to make an appointment. I feel your pain.

Why on earth would there be blood for a filling?
I've had a few, and none have resulted in blood. Except for when she pinched my lip in a clamp once.

By far a tooth pulling while awake is much worse.
