Had this been an Arcadian wood, the nymphs would have had a good time of it, but as it was, he would never know his own beauty, as he stepped down carefully to wade out through the curtain of willow.

I really love that image, along with the rest of the fic, of course.:) And your writing is gorgeous, as always. Thank you!

I love this period in Laurie's life, when I imagine so much of his private thoughts must have been about Lanyon. Beautifully written.

I do like the image of Gyp waiting for him by the books.

A lovely story-and, I would say, well in character for Laurie at this point in his life. I love the unrecognized hero-worship that lies behind, "Lanyon was bound to do something remarkable". Especially when we know that he was, at this point, working in a fairly junior job on a ship plying the ocean nowhere in particular with nothing especially remarkable going on. (Not that Laurie's wrong, of course....)

Ah, heroic Lanyon! ;) I think there's scope for fic about his days in between, he may have done some quietly remarkable things!

Thank you!
