Let's get happy!

Ah, yes, posting. I had a roll going there for a bit. Three posts within a month. Much better than the three in a year schedule I had been keeping. Let’s see if I can get back into the posting groove.  I think I’ll steal jennylafleur’s idea about posting things that make me happy and another friend’s November facebook status updates of things for which she was ( Read more... )

Thanks! It's slightly rediculous, even for history nerds like us, but we couldn't pass it up. Besides, the area over our fireplace is pretty big because it's open up to the loft area. This actually fills the space better than the smallish picture we had there before.

I'd love to have an 18th century house. I sympathize with your friends renovation work. We're finding interesting things restoring an 80+ year old house, I imagine that working on a 200 yr. old house is even more "fun". We were lucky to know a contractor who specializes in vintage homes.
(The whole house looks like a disorganized storage unit, since we had to clear out 2 rooms-my sewing has had to move to the kitchen table).

And my sympathies to you. Having lived in a house that underwent several years of renovations, I know what fun that can be. ;) I well remember the disorganized storage unit decorating scheme. Made my neat-freak nature kinda twitch.
Hope your renovations are going well and quickly!

Grin-the current "storage unit" decorating is making me crazy-I have no idea where anything is at the moment. It feels like we're moving into the house all over again. I'm a moderate neat-freak, but my Other Half covers any flat surface in "stuff". somehow, we manage not to argue about it. (although I have rebelled over the collection of sports shoes & hiking boots that get spread over half the kitchen floor & I keep tripping over....)

I would totally have hung that coat of arms too. And it's so appropriate to your area. Now here in San Diego, it WOULD look funny.
