Assuming that pageview-count is directly proportional to comment-count on LJ, I know that the number of people who read my LJ is declining and now falls between "few" and "none". However, this is my only source to say the things that I want to say to "the world". So, excuse the emo of this post, and as always feel free to comment...

It's okay:) If there is a God, I don't think He'll try any less to help Caytlin because you feel dishonest praying. He would probably respect your genuine effort to figure it out.

But I'd feel disrespectful simply in asking him.

"Hey. Yeah, I think you're a figment of our collective imaginations, but if you ARE real, do you think you could give me a hand here?"

Note: This does not mean I don't respect the Big Guy at all. It just means I feel I don't give him enough respect to ask for a favor.

Pascal's "god matrix" doesn't apply then.

You are a rationalist, so you need rationalist answers. Here goes:

I thought about this and after fuging over the fact that the goddamn American health care system needs its goddamn throat cut for a while, I reached a few conclusions:

1: What Caytlin's got may be a genuine medical mystery.

2: Even if it isn't, it's got your local quacks unable or unwilling to arrive at a solution. (My guess is STILL a UTI that doesn't culture well.)

3: You live very close to a research hospital.

It may be worth it to start probing the UW medical facility phone by phone for someone willing to take a look at this. Maybe at the very least you'll find a doctor willing to at least TRY antibiotics on something that's hung on this long.

Hmmm, that's a thought. And since I'm a student at the UW, I may be able to wiggle into the bureaucracy easier than I would otherwise. I'll start asking around...

...There are those of us who don't comment because we either don't have anything we think would be valuable to say, or because someone else has already said it.

...Allan has an excellent idea up there. I think you should try it.

*big hugs* to you and Caytlin.
