I'm not entirely sure what Twitter and Facebook have to do with the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, but there you go. There are two O:s in Facebook, and O:s are almost circles.

Today I, at long last, got around to getting tested to see if my blood is good enough to share with other people. Initial results (hemoglobin and blood-pressure values) good; final results (diseases and contagions) pending.

Halmstad got its first snow for the year this morning.

But since it's still a bit early in the season for snow, we're having it changed to rain instead. And then, hopefully, we'll get it to stop raining, stop blowing, and maybe turn up the thermostat a notch or two.

Wow, moving house is hard work.

Especially when you're doing it alone, using only a sack barrow.

(And especially when it's hot and humid.)

The bed was the worst.

It's still kind of fun, though, being a one-man removal firm.

Today I signed the lease for my new apartment. I'll move in possibly next week, or the week after.

I'll only be moving about 1'500 m. Hardly worth it, right? But my current apartment is in a district/suburb of Halmstad called Andersberg, the main assets of which (according to our dear news media) are immigrants, shootings and gang-crime. It's ( Read more... )

Okay, so, you hear about “the mail” as a collective abstract noun for all mail items - “only bills in the mail” - and also as a noun for the service that collects and delivers the collective abstract noun - “send it by mail”. And, of course, there is also the verb “to mail”.

Went fencing tonight, for the first time in a year, or so it felt. (More realistically, I did a few assaults in February, but I haven't been to training since before Christmas.)

I wish everyone a pleasant ending of the old year, and a happy new year to come!

I must say I'm pretty happy to leave the “Noughties” behind, and move into the Tens. They feel like a much more “real” decade, for some reason.

And 2010 is going to start on a high note, for me in any case: on the 7th of January I'll be 10'000 days old.
