So a little while ago orpheusinhades linked to his cousins doing a Cover CD of Buddy Holly songs, which is awesome. I am totally down with the idea, backed it myself, and hope it gets funded.

In so doing, I revisited Kickstarter and got interested in a miniature game system that isn't too expensive and involves some pretty cool looking models and interesting ( Read more... )

Those minatures are really nice, particularly the ship ones. Kickstarter can be so dangerous...lots of great projects there.

Sounds like you are doing baby prep on a good, sane schedule. I know you're going to be awesome parents, H is a lucky kiddo. :)

I should really look at that ship game. Strategy is generally not right for my brain, but . . . after spending about eight months as Guy Who Wouldn't Shut Up About Aubrey-Maturin, it's kind of the least I can do.

If you get a set, then maybe we can play a game while bitsyboo plays cello...

The prices aren't too bad for the amount of models you get. You could always go for getting a set of the British ships and using my rulebook.

Be well.

British ships? Who the hell wants British ships? British crew, French boat, way to go. (Or . . . I did see the Constitution on their list, and if there's one thing Patrick O'Brian and the relevant movie taught me, it's that those American frigates are scary.)

Yeah the Constitution is one of their stretch goals. You have to pay an extra 20 but it looks kind of neat. I'm going with the HMS Victory myself. I'm keen to play the game and see how the different rules for maneuvers, type of ammunition (chain and grape shot), as well as damage to masts and the waterline work.

Be well.
