For purely tactical reasons, we're sure, James has ... got a pair of pants back on, at least, although this is all he's wearing when he comes back to sit opposite her with a drink (his lighter and cigarette case get tossed down onto the sheets in front of him, he'll worry about that soon).

"We can't all have a mermaid's ego." ...James is the wrong person to make that assertion, but this doesn't actually stop him from saying it. Either way, he raises an eyebrow at her when she looks at him like that.
