Technocrats and glamours and this mermaid; it's almost over, and James is as unrecognizable as he is unmistakable in the diving gear. His efficiency underwater would be significantly more impressive if he weren't next to a mer princess, no doubt, but for now it's the farthest thing from his mind. This is not - and has never been - about impressing anyone.
With layout and timing memorized, James makes his way to the underwater entrance and lets nothing distract him.
(It's dead here; the technocrats are the only distraction.)
She clasps the glowing gem she stole from the Nexus floor to her chest and follows after. (Truthfully she is often impressed by is swimming - for a human, yes, but all the same. Of course she'd not say so. Of course.) While she can help with the entrance, most of it is going to be his work - she is here to kill Technocrats, not deal with the technicalities of human bombs.
Taking the lead, he presses his hands to the underside and feels his way for where he knows they'll find a likely-locked release door from the pool. He knows how the pressure seals work, where the doors are; he knows how to flood the place, too, but that would be just a little too easy.
They'll have to go through the interior level of water, which is where Pela changes into her legs - she'll do this whole thing barely clothed, very probably, it means nothing to her. There are knives, in her hands, and there is magic, and far up above the facility there are stormclouds brewing that none of them can see but Pelagia can certainly feel.
