You know, I really should post pictures. Last year I wound up feeling ill and ditching the Victoriana early so I'm overdue. I will badger my husband to document Victorian me.

I used to wish I had an excuse to dress up. After moving here and hearing about the Victorian house tour I went thoroughly native. I came back from my very first Historical Society meeting with a borrowed costumean d announced "Look! They've issued me a uniform!" Now I start plotting what to wear for House Tour a few months ahead. Occasionally I think I should find more excuses to dress up, but once I put on the corset and remember that I'll be short of breath and unable to bend properly for a whole day I start thinking that once a year is just right.

I certainly hope you have it in you to do just that.

there are not enough in our society who have an awareness of or an appreciation for history.
each time you do the period-clothing-and-tour thing it's an outreach to those who are in need.

The period clothing thing is only for the Tabor house tour. (Same day as your refenestration to-do this year!) I wish we wore Edwardian clothes at the museum! Lord, I'd love an excuse to get some Edwardian outfits going. Maybe I'll just start showing up outfitted . . .

The museum is Gustav Stickley's old house. It's more than a little grueling to docent there because I give two to three long and involved tours there every time I volunteer. I get a lot of crazed Arts & Crafts collectors, but there are also plenty of civilians who don't even know why it's a museum until I tell them. When I can get those visitors excited about the museum it's a truly wonderful feeling.
