I'm feeling better, having recently experienced a medical emergency which could have proven serious had it not been diagnosed and treated. The problem? I have (or had, if they're gone now) two blood clots in my left calf ( Read more... )

Yikes, Marg! I'm so glad you're alright! Hope you're relaxing and taking it easy- and that Megan sends you pictures of the cherry blossoms. Think soothing thoughts while you're recuperating! :-)

Well, I took a day off due to nausea from the Lovenox/Coumadin which is better now that I'm no longer on the shots but I'm back at work. The instructions they gave me in the ER were a bit contradictory. The doctor said I could resume my regular activities. The written instructions said I needed bed rest AND lots of exercise. Now I seem to be unusually tired but otherwise my leg is better and I feel generally ok and thankful for the outcome so far.

Eep! I'm so glad you're okay!!! Thank goodness! Clots are evil, nasty things!

Did the written instructions say anything about what kind of exercise might be best?

No, but I think anything that gets you moving, and I do walk a lot, even at work, is good. This is just so weird because even though I was walking all hunched over like Quasimoto becasue I couldn't straighten my left leg without it cramping terribly, I still hobnbled around everywhere. I didn't stop walking because I had pulled the calf muscle. So I am just still puzzled that I got the clots to begin with. It is scary to think about what could have happened had the doctor not sent me for the ultrasound. But I think I'm good at this point! I just hope I never have another one.
