Wow I had no idea the original Japanese was that shippy to even include the picture of her with the hairclip. Although to add to the shippiness the dub team made him write "love tai"...(did they do that in the Jap too? I don't remember)
That's amazing how the voice actors came to pretty much the same conclusions as we did that the writers paired off Sorato based on looks or that Sora was only dating another boy to make Tai jealous! Although that voice actor should know that while he might not be "pretty" like Matt, Tai is pretty hunky himself. Based on looks I'm sure quite a few girls would pick Tai over Matt.
Bryon here again, Angel. Another thing to add for the Diaboromon Strikes Back story, even if it seems insignificant is Sora calling out Tai's name first when she comes running toward him and Matt. If she was glad to see Matt, given their being an item, that she woulda called his name first.
Also, it's like I could be wrong or reading too much into it, but I've often seen that Matt doesn't seem too happy in that snapshot of him and Sora early on, or that it's out there for people to see. WTF, Matt? You show jealousy a bit at Tai and Sora hanging out in Episode 48, but you grump out over that?
Gotta wonder too if even he's mellowed out if Matt might have at first just gone out with Sora just to get under Tai's skin, even with their overcoming their rivalry.
BTW, my friend had said how the reason why coulda been Sora's feelings changing over 3 years, but I dunno, you think if they did, there woulda been an explanation and all, specially after all you had said. I tried to explain to him, but he just keep reminding me of the timeskip and all.
He isn't even much of a shipper, and this was after I was bringing up the "Strangled by the Red String" trope you had mentioned is fitting for Sorato, Rin. To be honest, it's like you said; if you're gonna do something, actually show it, don't just say it happened.
The whole "happened offscreen-so anything could of happened in that amount of time" is a very flawed arguement, because it goes both ways. Yes...anything virtually could of happened.
Davis could of become a PHD Physicist and Mimi could become a leader of a gang while Tai is enjoying his life making Pizzas with Italy, as Ken gets married to Sora of all people.
After all...that's a lot of time...ANYTHING can happen in that time.
Does that make it plausible and likely though? No!
Any good form of storytelling always has to have transitions shown otherwise they aren't believeable...period.
