Samye Ling and a Happy Birthday

On Sunday my husband and I got up early and drove down to the Samye Ling Center for lunch. I managed to walk around the hall with the prayer wheels and a small amount in the garden. The temple had a course going, so we didn't get to go in and sit. But it was still a nice visit ( Read more... )

R's upcoming trip to visit you sounds like it will be a wonderful time for both of you; I'm so glad you can arrange that!

I had a wonderful experience sitting in meditation with a group in the basement of a UU church that had something of the effect you're talking about on me. I think about going back from time to time, but the business of life and the fact that other sessions didn't have nearly the same effect have kept me from it. Maybe one of these days. It feels really good, to be self-aware, that way, for a while.

Very much looking forward to the visit. It will be good for both of us.

You will find the place that is best for you and learn from it. When you are ready. I came into Buddhism late in life after growing up mostly pagan.

I have such mixed feelings about religion and spirituality. I'm town between rationalism and a mystical view of the world. They both have a great deal of appeal. Yes he is and I am grateful for him every moment. This is hell for him as an engineer to have something he can't fix. But he is doing everything he can to make my life happy and comfortable.

I am very lucky.

There's an exhibition of Mary Queen of Scots stuff at the Museum just now. I'm hoping to take two visitors to it next Monday. I'll let you know what it's like.

I would so love to come over and see that. I wonder if the museum has a wheelchair available for wobbly visitors.
