I want to see glaciers and bears! That sounds awesome. I'm from Chicago but the idea of bears roaming around freely doesn't seem strange to me, I guess. Not to say it wouldn't make me a little nervous at times if I ended up living in Alaska. :-P

Well, you ARE from Chicago where you definitely have more 'Bears' roaming around town freely then here. At least in-season/off-season, depending on how many of them actually live there. ;D

To be fair, I've never seen one while I was out walking or driving yet so it isn't like the place is crawling with them. lol Young ones that don't break their habit of coming into town (to forage for food) have to be tranquilized and taken far away once they reach a certain level of maturity because they become a real danger. If they keep finding their way back, then they have to put them down. One reason the town has such strong trash laws.

So in Alaska they have bears instead of raccoons?

Evidently, I have yet to see a raccoon. We do have a cute little chipmunk that lives in our yard though. :)
