It's going to be a lovely day... not.

At 10:00 I have a midterm exam. At 14:00 I have a dentist appointment. He will try to talk me into pulling my wisdome teeth, as usual, and as usual I will try to wiggle my way out. This time, however, it won't be so easy because I suspect I have a cavity in one of my wisdom teeth. So. This stinks. Somewhere in between I will have to stop by ( Read more... )

I feel for you. I'm sure I'd resist as long as possible if it were me as well. I ge tto keep my wisdon teeth since I'm a bit of a mutant; I never got 7 of my permanent teeth. I had braces for about 2 years, and they pulled the baby teeth that never got pushed-out, and put bridges in their place. As a result, I had plenty of room for my wisdom teeth when they came in.

Wow. I should just quit whining and get it done. :o) Oh, man, I just had a thought... my dentist likes to spring things on people because he thinks this takes the edge off. Well... tomorrow he's having me back to get a small cavity filled. I bet he'll say that while we're at it, we might as well yank the wisdom tooth out as well!!! Agh! The horror!

Thanks! I hate going to the dentist too. My mom was a chairside assistant for 20 years, you'd think I'd be used to it by now.

Ugh! I feel for you. I had my wisdom teeth cut out when I was 17. I had 5 of them and they were all growing in sideways, pushing my teeth together.

Did it hurt? I remember one of my friends got hers taken out around the same age and she moaned and groaned about it for days.

It didn't feel too good. My main problem was that the orthodontist put me to sleep for it using sodium pentathol (not sure of the spelling) and I had a terrible time coming out of it. I had to be helped to the car because I could barely walk. My mother had to hold me steady so I could use the toilet after we got home. And then later on, after being home for a while, I tried to walk to the bathroom. I didn't make it. I was holding onto the wall for support and I felt myself slipping down. Mom and Dad literally dragged me back to my room because I couldn't walk! And then I threw up all night.

That was the worst of it. I don't remember my mouth feeling so bad that I complained about it. I was sore, but not that bad. My jaws were square-shaped, though, for about a week!

I hope the exam went well!

If your wisdom teeth aren't being a problem, why would he insist that you get them pulled? I thought they only did that when the teeth didn't have enough room or were growing incorrectly? I hope that went ok, anyway.

Well, he says that because they sit so far back they are difficult to keep clean turning them into breeding grounds for bacteria, which then spreads to the rest of the mouth. I have an appointment to go back tomorrow to fill a cavity I was unaware I have, then I get to go back once more so he can get medieval on my teeth. Yikes! I'm scared to death because I've heard such horror stories! Ionel had his pulled a few months ago and swears it didn't hurt, but I'm still terrified.
