Two days ago I went and got a membership at the Y. Yesterday I went swimming there, then lounged in their hot tub. It was wonderful! Comparing the Y to the health club to which I used to belong, the Y comes on top, to my surprise. I tried a couple of times to get rid of refined sugar in my diet. After about two weeks or so it would actually hurt my stomach if I ate anything too sugary. And, for a long time after that, drinking even half a can of soda would be too much. (I think lately I can drink a whole can, but that is mostly due to desperation of beverages combined with the lack of choices in the building on campus.)

I have such a terrible addiction to sugar, too. I have such a hard time staying away from it. I made it my goal to stay away from sweets. I have to stay away from them. Too bad we don't live close by each other. We could start up our own little support group!

The Y is so great. I haven't been using my membership lately, but only because I've been so distracted by the looking for a job and then getting the job and then adjusting to the job. You're inspiring me to put my $36 per month to use!

I was pleasantly surprised by the Y, though I don't know why I expected anything less.
