We have new neighbors

As of yesterday, we have new neighbors in the condo right next door to us. So far, there has been lots of barking (two small dogs) and loud kid voices. It's not even 9 a.m. yet. I'm hoping this won't become the norm. We'll have to move into our other bedroom if this is to be the case (it's much smaller but it is on the end of the building where

I'm surprised that the condos don't have better soundproofing. I find that in the warm months, even more so than inside noises, outdoor noises with kids tend to drive me even more crazy. The upstairs neighbour's 3-4 year old daughter tends to stand in the backyard and shriek holding a piercing note as long as she can and her mother just stands there and laughs at her when she does it. When the windows are open, they may as well be in my apartment. I'm grateful that they've spent so little time in the backyard this summer.

I wonder how old the youngest of your new neighbours are.

We'll give them a week, see how it goes, and if the noise level remains the same, we'll have a chat.

I actually started looking at CraigsList last night to see what sort of apartment rentals are out there right now, because I'm so fed up with the loudness of our complex lately. But when I saw the prices compared to what we pay now, I got discouraged.

Oh, that stinks. Home should be a place where we feel happy, not full of dread due to the noise and neighbors.
