When a puppy is chewing... say... an electrical wire, you walk up to him, say "No!" in a sharp tone, bop him on the nose with your finger and push him back. Do this two or three times and 99% of the time he will sit down or back up and look at you trying to understand what just happened ( Read more... )

When you point in front of a dog, they'll look to see what you're pointing at. When you point in front of a cat, they'll look at your finger.

Try it.

I noticed that too. :o) Corcodel often gets so excited when he gets treats (especially table scraps) that he makes a mess and scatters crumbs and bits all over the place. He then asks for more, but I make sure he cleans up his mess first by pointing to all the bits and crumbs he left on the floor. He's so cute picking them all up! Sometimes I'll point to a bit that flew far from where he's standing and he will go look for it in the direction I'm pointing. If he doesn't find it, I point again and he tries again, sometimes looking back at my finger to make sure he's headed the right way. :o)
