Sounds like you have a huge blank canvas to work with! And you are far more ambitious than we are. :) I'm looking forward to seeing the photos.

That's only because we are buying the place. I've never actually changed a rental. I can't wait to color the place! I wish I could paint more than just walls, but my only talent is drawing. It's weird... My grandfather was a very talented man. He could draw beautifully, he was a painter (he painted the ceilings in churches), and a sculptor. I have some old newspaper articles about his sculptures made of match sticks, which include several plates, boxes, miniature houses (about 5" x5" on average), a violin that plays (though not very well), among other things. I used to love watching him when I was little. He would cut the matches, glue them together to form larger pieces of wood, then he would shape them and sand them down, finally putting them together, creating fantastic sculptures. In fact, one of his nicest creations was a bust of King Carol which he gave the king as a present. It sat prominently displayed in his castle until a fire destroyed it ( ... )

Your grandpa sounds neat. There are a lot of creative people in my family, but I seem to be the only visual artist. The others can play music, or write.

Congratulations! I'd rip those carpets out, too, and am also looking forward to pictures of the results.
