And this is all before the SASQUAN administrators release the nomination numbers in August, which should provide further fun!

I have a feeling Sad Puppies 2016's leader will take a different approach. Instead of populism, it's just going to be stories by the Mad Genius Club clique.

We'll see if Jim Butcher comments next.

But yeah, the Sad Puppies were kinda doing a mix of genuinely popular (Butcher) and successful self-pub, and the Rabid Puppies were Here is my publishing house, vote for it, and since people are dropping off the first idea, I think you're right that we'll be seeing more of the Mad Genius Club.

Or just more "It's about quality! Look at our high Amazon ratings! And if you No Award us, we will 1 star all of your stuff on Amazon!" comments.

It was always stories by their personal friends. I think that goes back farther than the Sad Puppies name.

This year they included some people they didn't personally know, so they could claim that quality was a factor. They still had stuff by their personal friends (Larry Correia, John C Wright) and people they may not have known but whose politics they admired (Tom Kratman, Michael Williamson.)

As for Amazon ratings, I look forward to receiving the voter packet so I can give some honest ratings. Either reading the packet will be more enjoyable than I thought (win) or I can at least make the ratings more accurate for the stories involved (also a win.)

Been following along on David Gerrold's FB as well. I have to say that I'd be tempted to say
"I'll start my own awarsd event-with Hookers and blackjack more inclusivity and regard to writing.

I don't know that I can actually handle any more awards. The drama and collapse of these awards have kinda been enough.

Maybe while he is writing about this he is not writing about the death of Starks...
It would be nice if there was some silver lining...

That seems like a very thin silver lining indeed.

This cloud is pretty short of silver. No doubt about that.

I did come up with, "Well, it makes me feel a bit better that I can't afford to go to Sasquan this year," but since I probably would have spent that money on GenCon if I did have it, I don't know that it counts as a much bigger silver lining.
