Love the pics and inimitable commentary. Oh why did we not see the turnaround on our big trip???? Mesa Verde pales in comparison! :))

Well... not precisely pales. I wouldn't say pales. Maybe turns slightly greener with envy. I'd go along with that. :)

Ha ha ha! Hi, Mariole, I've been away a few weeks. Some of these photos are not showing now but I saw them when they were up but, alas, not in a state to comment. I think the Salida Turnaround is a hoot. Love the giant S too. It always warmed my heart, driving to or from CA from MN, to see the giant "W" on the hill above Winnemucca, NV.

Yes, England has the giant chalk horse, Peru has the pictures from the sky, Salida has the giant S. It's world-class. (There's a giant M outside Golden for the Colorado School of Mines, but it's probably your W just having a good time on vacation.)
