I took a quick look at the fic and it's similar to what I believe happened (although I do think Sherlock was motivated by saving the recipients of all three sniper bullets, not just John - although of course John is paramount). There was also the cyclist and who knows what to throw John off track at the scene - his hand was grabbed away from Sherlock's pulse fairly quickly so it did not even have to be a very disabling drug if any. I assume that everyone on the scene (so fast!) had to be homeless network folks. Or Mycroft accomplices. The real question I have is whether Mycroft is in on it, too. I suspect he is.
I agree with your assessment of the episode. I loved it, and especially the John angst. The therapist scenes, graveside scene, and the scene of the fall ("Jesus no God no" is like a punch to the gut) - all of it stellar and emotional even after repeated watching. All of the actors were in top form.
I read today that in addition to confirming season 3, SM and MG have said that a Sherlock film might be in the works down the line.
Yes, it was a great season. And, really, each episode is like a film: 90 minutes and good production values, etc.
I'm kind of leaning toward the idea that Mycroft is in on it, but that's just a feeling, nothing more. It's possible, for example, that Sherlock and Mycroft were working together.
I don't think I was the one who got you into this fandom... wasn't it the other way around? I think you were writing fic before I had watched any of the eps, so I wasn't able to read what you were writing. And I have some catching up to do, come to think of it.
I have a memory like a steel trap!!! Or is that "sieve"?
Anyway, was just reading bbcsherlock tumblr spoilers, and they say due to scheduling they can't film until late 2012, so series three will be 2013. Eek. Well, a year is better than 18 months, but still!!!! How do people get through these breaks? There are only so many times you can replay the episodes without going mad!
> It's possible, for example, that Sherlock and Mycroft were working together.
Possible, but I don't think so. We should make a bet! We'll see who's right in 1.37 years!!! *weeps*
I was up late, too-- had to read reviews, and squee, then watch it again. But today is a holiday for me, so I'm wallowing in the fandom and greatly enjoying myself
( ... )
> I also love 'no way out' because then we see how heroic someone can be
So true. Those final moments on the rooftop, when Sherlock knew he was well and truly trapped and would have to jump, had my stomach in a knot. But you know why he had to do it-- BECAUSE HE'S LEARNED TO LOVE!!! The best stories are always bittersweet.
> Bastard.
Yes, I think it's safe to sum Moriarty up that way. :D
John's faith in Sherlock is inspiring. He gave the gift only a good friend can give. One of Gilli's links sums it up so well: "Just imagine spending your whole life alone and misunderstood, hated and envied by everyone around you, and then someone turns up who shows this kind of admiration and respect for you."
OMG. Just finished watching these. The scene with John and Sherlock at the end. *sniffs* Am a wreck.
Love the slow, believable changes in Sherlock as he changes from completely self absorbed to caring friend.
Love Molly to pieces. It broke my heart when she told Sherlock how she could see how sad he was when John wasn't looking.
No, Moriarty is not the kind of villain you love to hate, but he certainly gave me the creeps. *shivers*
I think Mycroft is in on it. He loves his brother in his own way and needs to make amends for his mistake. Also, he is the one with the connections and resources to best fake a death.
Yes, the show is pretty damn devastating. I sort of had to stumble around for a while afterwards.
Good notion about Mycroft. He was certainly involved in canon, he may be so here. But I think he learned a hard lesson about his own priorities as a result of all the suffering he put his brother and John through.
Molly was wonderful.
And so are you! See my shiny new Sherlock icon? It's thanks to your kindness. OH, I'm so glad and relieved. Finally, I'm appropriately iconed for this fandom! *hugs you mightily*

It's awesome. IHMO Season 2 was overall slightly more awesome than Season 1, but it's all pretty awesome.
