whoo hoo! Go you! I really really admire your perseverance of finishing stuff and sending it out and again and again and again.

Yeah, sometimes it's easy, and sometimes it's an act of will. But I never got anywhere _before_ I kept sending things out, so I have to think my recent success has something to do with actually keeping my work out there. Perseverance is key. *hugs*

So tell me, do you submit electronically these days? It's been SO LONG since I've attempted to do anything like that, that I don't even know how it works anymore! How do you find the market for your stories now? Like how do you know what magazines, etc. to send them? I know WAY back in the day there was that huge book full of publishers/magazines that used to come out every year. Is that still how professionals do it? I think I'd be more up to finishing stuff and submitting if I knew how it really worked these days (I feel like I'm completely out of how the "new" publishing world works since most htings have gone electronic, ugh, I'm not THAT old, am I?).

My first story sale was written on a manual typewriter. Do yo remember carbon paper? Literally cutting and pasting, and using white-out?

Heh. Anyway, as I suspected, I blathered on for a bit, so your answer is in this post: http://mariole.livejournal.com/178719.html

I hope you do start sending your stories out. Just look at it as a fun hobby, and do what you can to keep it fun. Good luck!
