I must be a bad Ukrainian.
I skip the vodka, put garlic into the bowl of borsch (and sometimes with sour cream), and eat bread whenever throughout, skipping the salt (although I must admit the salt sounds like a good addition).

I dunno, your way makes the most sense to me -- I think it's nice to chase the whole shabang down with a slice of bread.

1,3,2,4 (no salt on the bread) -- i think we all agree the vodka is first, then you have to chase the vodka with something pleasant: borsch, then you want to add the flavor of fresh garlic, and then neutralize everything with some fresh cherniy hl'eb. :) ...mmm. now i'm hungry!

Ooooh, sounds so yummy from all the descriptions. I'm definitely a "1,2,3,4" person in terms of borsch eating...;) Makes completely sense. I must be Ukrainian in spirit, I guess...;)

Ya ne bol'shoi entuziast vodki, tak chto ne znau tochniy poryadok prinatiya ee na dushu v kombinatsii s borshom. Tak chto moi poryadok - lozhka borscha a zatem i kus' chesnochnogo hleba. MMM :):) BUT, if the garlic is eaten independently of the bread, then it definitely must come before the borsch. So then, I am with you all the way, Marishka - I would go with 1,2,3,4. These Ukrainians of yours are just fake Ukrainians ;), not only because their order is different, but because they forgot to include the most important ingredient of the process - SALO!! Est' bosch bez sala - tse svinyache dilo ;). The order then changes to be 1, 2, salo, and then either 3,4 or 4,3. :):):) Vot TAK. And you can say this order has ( ... )
