While I don't believe in an exclusive "THE ONE" (yes, Matrix jokes aside), there are a number of people in this world that you can be compatible with, and I truly honestly think that whether or not it works out is dependent on timing and circumstances. I

This makes me think of how in Peter Pan - every person has their own fairy when they're born (like a guarding angel typa thing), but as people grow older and stop believing in childhood, the little fairies SHRIVEL UP AND DIE!!! So, if there's "the one" person out there for everyone, but their complemetary one grows bored and cynical of waiting, devolving into a life of meaningless casual sex (or marriage to an old widow for money), their kinda screwed, aren't they? =)

Aaaanywho, maybe people find what they look for. If you're looking for THE ONE, you'll find eventually find someone appropriate to hang all your ONE-related fantasies on and worship him in all his one-ness. If you're looking for a dude whose established career is sufficient to support you so you can have that family you've always wanted, you'll find that too. You line up your priorities, and you choose your fantasies, I think life is messy like that.

there are over 6 billion people on this planet. If there was only ONE person for you out there, then your chances of finding that *ONE* person would be about 1 in 6 billion. You don't need to be a math or statistics whiz to realize that you would never find that person in that case. Given the fact that there is a fair number of happy couple out there, I would think that there is a very large number of people that you would be fairly happy to be with.

Well, in that case it's none of those things. I'd like to have all of them but they are not required 100%. You are well aware of the 7 or 8 qualifications that I am looking for in a person. I remember a time, no more than a year ago, when you said I was looking for impossible.... Apparently, it's not so impossible... :-)

I think that when you meet "the ONE", you just know it. And I don't mean "love from the first sight". I mean that if you are with the right person (the one who fits you beliefs, interests, etc.), you wake up one day and you realize this fact completely and absolutely. You realize that this is it. That this is THE person. And, as for various qualification and categories that you mentioned (such as WHY the person is the one or WHAT makes the person THE ONE) -- I think they are all important but I think that it's really hard to just sit and anlyze a person by concrete categories in this way way. Maybe human mind does all of this on a subconscious level and just gives you the answer whether or not the person is the one...Anyway, that's my 2 cents on it.
