The manual parking meter died today in New York, at the age of 55.  The cause of death was obsolescence.  No more "Fast Meter" excuses;  That was my favorite way out of a parking ticket.  Also, easy to jack up parking rates.

So I've been really sick the past couple of days. I went to target, to buy a small fortune in cold/flu products. I just ran across this CD of Natalie Merchant's - The House Carpenters Daughter - which is her version of old and new folk classics.  This album has one of my favorite versions of "Which side are you on?", a song which always makes me want to wail on some Pinkertons.  If I had a Time Machine.
