Lisa finally got a good night's sleep last night. Today she's feeling kinda yucky, not in pain though. That hip wound is still draining alot. No signs of infection though. We're on track for discharge today. Mamma stayed with Lisa last night. I got a good night's sleep and feel oh so much better. I was dragging pretty low yesterday. Lisa still isn't resting well. This morning Dr Letson came in and pulled the drain. Hurts alot during, but feels better afterward. He said to plan on converting to oral pain med today and going home tomorrow. He wants me to change the dressing one week post-op and come to see him two weeks post-op. He's very pleased with the outcome of this surg and Lisa's progress. The pain ( Read more... )

LONG NIGHT. LOTS OF PAIN. Much better now. The pain management team has been aggressive at getting to her pain, but it has taken awhile. It frustrates Lisa so much that no one accepts how much she needs to get on top of her pain. So we keep pushing, and they keep adding or adjusting. the most wonderful thing happened. They have an arts and healing program here. An intern with a base came into our room and played the most beautiful music. You could feel the reverberation throughout the room, and it was so healing. Lisa finally relaxed for the first time in days. The femoral nerve block for her leg and locally injected Marcaine for her hip are beginning to wear off. Great News!!! Dr Letson came out. He saw no signs of infection, in fact he saw signs of healing. So he went on with the original procedure and anticipates that she wiil move on to toe touch and partial weight bearing sooner rather than later.
