The Hyperion - Kitchen - Friday Evening

Dec 29, 2006 19:10

Veronica had discovered the kitchen and was more than happy to take advantage of its wonderful facilities to bake trays and trays of Christmas cookies.

Sure it was after Christmas, but that didn't matter, right? Cookies are cookies, after all. And Veronica liked to bake. So she was baking.

"Yo, man," Cameron replied in greeting from where he was icing the cookies.

"How's it going?" Bel asked, stealing a freshly iced cookie.

"It's good," he tried scowling at Bel for stealing a cookie, but found he didn't mind enough. "Veronica won't let me make suggestive cookies," he then added.

Bel snickered. "She's no fun," he said. He rubbed his temple, then idly looked around and said, "I still have to finish my holiday shopping. I haven't bought gifts for people yet. I was a little distracted last week."

"I'm sure people will understand," Cameron said, drawing a plane on the next cookie as he was tired of christmas trees. "I'm late with the whole gift thing too this year."

"I'll get Veronica a nicer present than I got her last year," Bel promised. Innocently. Terribly terribly innocently. Really.

Pausing his cookie icing, Cameron looked up at Bel. "What did you get her last year?"

Bel chuckled. "A book, a guide to sex with vampires, something like that," he said. "She had a big thing for Angel then."

Cameron stared at Bel as if he had just lost his mind. He was so concentrated on the staring in disbelief thing that he didn't notice he was squeezing the tube and building up a small icing mountain.

"She had a thing for Angel?" he finally managed.

"You didn't know?" Bel said in expertly feigned surprise. "Oh. Oops. I mean, it's not like it was a big secret, and it was a year ago, but still, I guess it can be a little unsettling to learn your girlfriend has a taste for the undead."

"You're saying that as if she's got some weird sort of kink for vampires. I'm pretty sure it was just one exception," Cameron bristled. Granted, one he didn't know about and it was definitely weird having to hear this from Bel. And it was a year ago, which was... exactly how long ago the whole lapdance thing was.

Cameron dumped the icing tube on the table, not caring about the string it left on the top. "It doesn't matter," he said firmly, but it might not have been adressed at Bel.

Bel lifted his hands. "Not saying that at all," he said. "I'm sorry I said anything. I didn't know you didn't know."

"It's in the past," Cameron said, staying logical about this all. "That's why she didn't tell me. It's not like anything came of it and Angel was with Callisto around that time, wasn't he?" Nope, this wasn't helping.

He grimaced and got up from his chair to grab a dish towel.

"I'm sure it's totally in the past," Bel agreed. "Not even worth thinking about at all."

"Yeah," Cameron agreed, but he was frowning as he cleaned up the spilled icing. "Anyway... have you figured out how to release your father yet?" he changed the topic.

"Not yet," Bel said. "Unfortunately. Angel was pretty unhelpful when I asked him for any ideas. I don't want to break it without knowing for sure that won't cause him more harm."
