reading nausea and even with the preconceived notion i got from ppl at work i think it's boring and quite sadly as much as i can sometimes relate to antoine i feel like he's a big pussy rather than a character i would sympathize with...holden caufield was a character i felt for...innocence is beautiful. sadness is beautiful too, but aversion to all ( Read more... )

oooh, sartre...oh man.

you know what's a good read? Ender's Game- Orson Scott Card. It's a sci-fi book but if you haven't already read it, please do. it's so good.

and you know who i think you would really like, maybe you already like his stuff- vonnegut. i mean, he seems like one of those kind of pessimistic type writers but what he always meant well- "There's only one rule that I know of, babies-God damn it, you've got to be kind."

and to answer why you're on here analyzing this shit:

"Many people need desperately to receive this message: 'I feel and think much as you do, care about many of the things you care about, although most people do not care about them. You are not alone.'"

also vonnegut!

of course, i still hate humans. but you know i make exceptions for little polish girls named marta.

When you get right down to it, existentialism is the most vulgar form of masturbation. Obsessing about your obsessions can make a person most comfortably miserable.

I read Sartre when I was like 15. I can very much relate to how overwhelmed Antoine felt with society, and at the same time so very desparate not to feel a part of it. It's a hard life to live.
