Fastest remedy for insomnia - BOOZE. Perhaps not the smartest idea, but I'd just like to be able to sleep, ya know? I'm hoping for at least 8 hours. We'll see.

Just be careful, I had a friend in high school who wound up being unable to sleep without it. :o/

The problem is, for me at least: booze seems to wake me up in the middle of the night.

Have you ever wanted to learn Latin? The thing that finally worked for my insomnia was trying to gently learn something "boring" before bed. Memorizing stuff-- like kid's poetry-- works great AND seems to keep my brain from waking back up a few hours latter. I am now getting closer to seven or eight hours a night of decent quality sleep. A nice change from months of two- five hours.

Seconded. Alcohol makes me drowsy, but then I sleep crappy.
I relied on old UNIX manuals back in the day. Maybe I should try Latin.
