I had to fight that reaction, too, when I opened up the package that a kind roach enthusiast in Dallas sent to me! It has taken some time, but I am mostly past that stage, and I guess I am now where one could say......I am seeing the inner roach! ;)
Throughout the entire post I was sitting here gong, "Is he talking about a cockroach?" I have no problem with the little devils as long as they are crawling around the ground when I can see them. I have a huge issue with them crawling around in the dark when I don't have access to a light switch and I might step on them... especially in bare feet. And I have a huge objection to them flying around at night... mainly because the idea of bumping into one of those when I'm blindly heading to the bathroom would probably make me wet myself in the hallway. Why do you want them as pets though? I understand spiders... they kill obnoxious bugs...
No, stepping on them would be bad for both parties! ;)
These guys are only native to the Madagascar rain forest, and are detritivores, so mostly eat fruit and veggies, that sort of thing. Mine like MacIntosh apples, blackberries, sweet peppers, things like that. They do not live in homes (other than as pets! ;)
