Back to working out...

May 31, 2009 15:35

I'm starting to get back into working out after surgery. I'm starting very, very lightly. It's amazing how taking just over a month off and I feel like I've lost every ounce of muscle I worked to gain.

Also, I learned that making a strawberry smoothie with chocolate protein rather than vanilla does not taste so great.

get wii active! I just got it, it's totally wicked cool. Bryan bought me the balance board, but I wont see him till this weekend, haha. (I got Shaun White snowboarding too, can't wait to try that.)

I know, I should get wii fit. Eric has it but its in his room. But whats the outdoor wii exercise thing you were talking about on facebook? That sounds like more fun.

it's the new EA Sports Active game...not outdoors, but it's fun. And you don't need the balance board for it. it uses resistance bands (which I need stronger ones, but it's good to start with the one they have) and it straps the nunchuck to your thigh.

Google it.

Ugh...NOT looking forward to the gym hiatus. How are you feeling? P.S. I have a surgery filter that I put you on, if that's cool.

I'm feeling good. Feeling pretty well back to normal now really. Its just difficult because I was in good shape before surgery and being in bed all that time and not being able to do much of anything physical at all for over a month basically atrophied my muscles. My calf muscles, which have always been well defined, have disappeared. And my biceps that I had finally gotten proud of are now gone. I went from easily curly 40lb dumb bells to starting out at 15s today (I could have technically handled a bit more, but I'm being careful not to stretch my donor site) and I was tired. I haven't started running again yet, but I'm sure that will kick my ass.

I don't mind you reading any of my entries. What does the surgery filter do? i've been away from LJ for too long.

The surgery filter is for my upcoming surgery on Wednesday - I have a special filter for people that want to read about my surgery-related posts.

Go to the gym more. The more you workout the more energy you'll have. Seriously.
