On the iPhone, there is a standard control that lets you select a date. On that control, it is impossible to select any date in the year 1582. 1581 is fine, and so is 1583, but 1582 does not show up.

freaky! I'm surprised you can choose 1582 for a date, I tried to schedule an event for 1582 on my phone because I was curious to whether they had the year, and it only goes back to 1981. By the way, I sent you an e-card, so don't put it in your spam folder! Did you have a nice Nikolaustag? Get any candy in your shoes? because I didn't!! :-(
