Guilty Pleasure Movies

Do you guys have any movies that you really don't want anyone to know you like?  I am sure you do.  I do!

I like the Casper movie a lot.  I have no idea why.  I generally hate live action re-makes of cartoon movies, 3D CGI animation makes me sad, and it just may be Eric Idle's worst movie appearance ever*... but I like Casper.

I really do.  :O

I have a kind of unhealthy love of really violent, visceral revenge/vigilante thrillers. Stuff like Deathwish, Mad Max, The Horseman and The Crow.

The Crow is a good choice, definitely a respectable film. :)

The Matrix sequels. I'm aware of the movies' weaknesses - the concept went from "discovery of a new world with mind-blowing concepts" to "same old world, so let's just throw in more characters and a love story", and some scenes need to be watched more than once in order to "get" them.

But I think the real reason the sequels are hated is because they're harder to follow or understand than the original. I think the sequels are beautiful and action-packed with good stories, though there is some CG abuse, especially in Reloaded (100 Smiths? Nobody can even follow the action).

But I won't deny it if anyone asks.

There are a lot of movies I watched as a kid that give me a sense of nostalgia, but watching them today it's clear how utterly horrible they were. I'm not sure if they count. But a great example is The Witches.

Maybe you could say I have a lot of "Guilty Displeasure" movies too - where everyone seems to think they're great, but they bore the heck out of me or just seem very badly done. The Hangover is a recent one. The ( ... )

Wow.. that was a while ago!... Not a bad movie actually :>

While I don't feel drawn to watch the Casper one much, I agree that "Quest" is also a guilty pleasure... I love looking at the falcon and griffin in motion... and many other characters... but Way Too Much Singing! :D

Not that singing's bad, if it contributes a lot or strikes a fancy... I guess one guilty pleasure to add to the mix (WITH singing) is Phantom of the Paradise ... heh!

Too much singing in Quest For Camelot? Really? You mean the sentimental song the mother of the lead character sings while her daughter is running away for her life is too much? ;)

I LOVE the griffin in that movie though. There needs to be more animated griffins.

Phantom of the Paradise - oh man, I am a pretty big Phantom of the Opera fan, but I have yet to see that version... It looks amazing. :D
