Using just a Nokia 770 Internet Tablet running oggplay, bluetooth, my mobile phone, 3G, and an Ogg stream, I can now listen to Cambridge University Radio wirelessly!

Proof that Debian was in use in Egypt several thousand years ago.

Today I was in London at the British Museum with Jen, looking at their Egyptian artefacts as many of them say "Head of statue of Foo XI; remainder in situ in Thebes" which is where we'll be in under a month. More about this in a later entry when I've sorted out my photos and have had a few seconds to breathe.

THCS LAN party occurred, as a result of an inexplicable sudden burst of enthusiasm for organisation. Failed to make a mess of the setup, despite the valiant disappearing attempts of keys, passwords and switches. Only minor losses were sustained (one motherboard, one disk, one DIMM, one patch of skin from hand, and the game). Curry was eaten. ( Read more... )

The annual University of Cambridge Computing Service machine room tour (organised in collaboration with the SRCF, hence my involvement) is this Wednesday at 8pm. It is open to any member of the University. Meet outside the lift on floor 3 of the Cockroft Building on the New Museums Site.

I return, to find both hal.trinhall.cam.ac.uk and a box at my parents' house dead from disk failure. This sort of thing always seems to happen when I go on holiday...

I have until now been using LiveJournal from my OpenID, ext_2524. I have moved to a real LiveJournal account as I was becoming increasingly irritated with the limitations of LiveJournal's OpenID support. Don't expect me to post very often, if ever, but please friend me if you friended my OpenID :-)
