Reasonably Local Steampunk Authors?

I live in Waltham, so I've been going to the planning meetings for this year's steampunk festival at the Charles River Museum of Industry and Innovation, now called International Steampunk City. Sorry. Can't help ya there.

I do know a PhD who specializes in Victorian era literature, whom I'm trying to convince should do a talk or two. She's particularly knowledgable about sort of dark industrial themes in the lit (specializing in Horror like Dracula and such). I've got all tomorrow afternoon to talk her into giving a lecture.

Elizabeth Bear? She's Northeast-based and has an alternate history series with steampunk elements.

I doubt that I'm what you're looking for, but my Steampunk e-book is coming out from Circlet Press in April.

Not for the daytime, but there is talk of a "Steampunk City Underground" evening event that wouldn't have the museum's name attached to it that would be more adult. I'll see if that's definitely happening. I'm not sure how you'd do a signing for an ebook, though. :)

For an event like that, I can burn CDs to sell. That works much better for a reading. though, than a straight signing.
