Leather/SM, as I know it, had a vetting process in place. I don't know this new stuff, don't really recognize it, and don't really participate in it any more beyond going to see people and catch up. People don't like to hear "No. You can't join until we get to know you and trust you or until you can produce someone that we know and trust that will vouch for you. We want you to understand that if you screw up we are going to hold you responsible for your actions *and* it is going to reflect badly on the person that recommended you. If we correct you about something the last thing you should do is talk about it outside the group. Mostly you should just shut up and take it because for us to say anything at all means it's already pretty bad and that for the good of the group we EXPECT you to cooperate."
Vetting never left in some circles and amazingly they're still around. I don't think that is a coincidence.
can we put the horse back in the barn and close the door? with the recent stuff that has happened I am fed up with it being too damned easy to come into our world. People are getting hurt and it will bite us in the ass with our lifestyle coming to light in a bad way. And don't get me started on "leaders", it pisses me off I work shifts that don't allow me to get more envolved. Thanks for listening to my venting. I am trying to talk to some of my old fart peers to see what if anything can be done.
I'm all for horses grazing peacefully in their stalls. The reality is that there is nothing that can be done to "take back". There is plenty that can be done to "re-start". All it takes is resolve and a skin thick enough to be called a *Big Meanie* and not let it get you down.
what is scary is that those words have been spoken to me by a couple others, resolve, thick skin and being called exclusive etc. I just need the time and know that in the end, my honor and integrity are intact. Thank you I am so glad we met.
