Last night went better than I feared (of course). I was really very, very nervous and I ended up being the first in the class to have their script performed, which was even more scary as no-one knew what to expect. It was a strange experience. I really, really hope my tutor was paying attention, especially to the parts the actors were saying that they liked, that she'd said I should cut! Shows how subjective it all is.

Glad it went well! Shame it's the tutor that's the dissenting voice, but it's important to remember that her opinion isn't gospel (though I know it takes some time to build up anything in the way of confidence in your own writing opinions).

Thing is, I know I can write dialogue. And I know she's wrong in some of the things she's criticising. What it's forcing me to do is take a look at the thing from the POV of someone who's coming to it with no prior knowledge, and make sure that what I think is blindingly obvious is actually shown, without being all expositional about it. Fine line.
