BCT hike: Map 2, F to the Mill River bridge remains

Much of today's hike was along eskers, with swampy bits down steep hills on either side. Fewer mosquitos than earlier this summer. Signage at a couple of places on the trail said "The beavers are winning" and suggested a detour around the bridge at Mill River. Perhaps "former bridge" would be a better description. Have you done the Concord section yet? I saw Bay Circuit signs today on some of what is usually called the Reformatory Trail there.

Nope. At my current rate of progress, I'll hike that area in about 2-3 years. I did ride my bike on the Reformatory Trail years ago, when I lived in Watertown and was spryer. That's where I learned I can't ride on sand.

It's mostly well-packed dirt these days. I don't recall any sand. Probably still best avoided the day after a rainstorm.
