I wanted to take cheesecake cupcakes to viol workshop, which necessitated making cheesecake cupcakes. I thought it would be more work than it turns out to be IF I actually follow the directions and soften the cream cheese. One year anniversary
One year ago today, we brought home four pre-owned guinea pigs in what, for us, was the height of piggy insanity so far. Happy Adoption Day to Teddy and Pep! And fond thoughts for Brian and Stewie, who spent their last little bit of time on earth puttering around our home. -
It is possible I'm a musician
I have mostly come to accept that I am a musician. I'm in denial some days, yet the evidence is there. Tonight, I needed to grab an instrument to see what the notes on my screen sounded like. why gender on licenses?
Just renewed my driver's license online. (Woohoo! No line!) Which got me curious about why genders still appear on that document nowadays, other than because we have always done it. A quick google gave me a lot of links for how to change it, but none on the rationale. Could just be me being hasty in my search, or it could be an obscure question. ( Read more... ) -
Teddy and Pep attend their first outdoor pignic
A couple of times a year, weather permitting, guinea pigs and their people gather on the lawn at Wellesley Town Hall for an afternoon of socializing and eating. RIP Stewie Pig
That was sooner than I expected. Sometime Saturday, he started to be more lethargic, but it was a sleepy day here for everybody. Sunday, he really started to be off his feed. By evening, he was uncomfortable. This morning, he was really uncomfortable, so we took him up to the vet and made the hard decision to help him go. -
BCT hike: Map 5A, Sections L-M
chiefoperator took piggy nursing duty this morning so I could get out long enough for a segment of the Bay Circuit Trail. I picked up at Fawn Lake in Bedford, hiked the Narrow Gauge Rail Trail to Springs Road, then followed that to the junction with Great Road. Mr. Stewie Pig is unwell
I should have been writing about this as it went, but I didn't have the spoons. Stewie's weight dropped from 1072 grams on the June 19 weigh-in to 1005 grams at the June 22 weigh-in. That's significant. He became somewhat lethargic and wouldn't eat his morning salad. When I watched him with carrot shreds and his "cookie", it looked like he mouthed ( Read more... ) -
Stewie has a bald spot
chiefoperator called me over to the couch last night to look at Stewie's belly. There was a bald spot about the size of a nickel mid-belly. I didn't see it when I had him up on Thursday, but it is right where my hand would cover it when I was holding him up, looking at his boy bits, so it could have been there and I missed it. RIP Brian Piggy
He moved slower and slower, napped more and more. While I was at a gig this afternoon, he slipped away. I think he had a good time here. It wasn't long enough. It rarely is.
