Ubuntu?

Do I have any Ubuntu-geek friends out there?

I'm interested in putting Ubuntu on my computer, but need the idiot's guide... I'm starting from scratch here! Does which version I use depend on my computer? Is there an easy-follow guide out there?

Any help appreciated :)

I don't know how much this will help because it's a bit of a non answer but I downloaded and installed Ubuntu a couple of years ago and there were easy to follow guides out there and it was simple to find out which one to use and ubuntu was a very simple easy to use OS when it was installed. I don't have any record of what i actually did or where i read the info but it did definitely exist and it wasn't challenging to a windows user/linux experimenter like me.

I am running Ubuntu full time on my main laptop. What do you want to know?

Really everything, which isn't a very helpful statement, I know. We've a Dell mini 10 and I'd like to put Ubuntu on it, but I understand there are problems with the type of chip it has, but some people have found a way around it. I guess the best question I can ask to begin with if there is some type of wiki or knowledge base where users with a particular system have come up with the best build or version for that system?
