Well, you could always pull the principal aside and speak to him about it. Or you, the Jew and the agnostic could simply walk out next time a prayer meeting was called. Or you could get in touch with the ACLU or something. Anything you do is likely to draw the ire of your principal, so I guess you just have to decide HOW MUCH it bothers you. Prayer circles...*shudder* Oh, and I think it's totally out of line for him to invite his teachers on a minister hunting expedition.

Honestly, I don’t know why you were shocked about the praying. You’ve lived in South Louisiana all your life, you should have been expecting it at some point. There was nothing legally wrong with him doing it either. The whole separation of church and state principle only says that the government can’t make people pray in schools, it doesn’t say that they can’t do it. If they chose to do it, not only can they do it; they have the right to do it. You also have the right to not participate in it. But honestly, so you listen to someone pray, what’s the big deal? It’s not like he’s forcing you to convert at gunpoint. You don’t even have to listen to him, just hang out and think of something else. In an area like you’ve described, I’d imagine religion plays a big part in your student’s and parent’s lives. It’s probably one way to keep kids off the street and out of trouble. You are likely going to be hearing a lot of prayers there. You can either get all worked up about it every time or just accept it as a way of their life and
