Alas, Paterson Joseph will not be the new Doctor. I was really rather excited there for a while - I loved Joseph as the Marquis de Carabas in Neverwhere, and I think he really could make an interesting Doctor (while at the same time, you know, giving us a Doctor who's not a white man.)

Picking an unknown for the part of the Doctor isn't all that unusual, actually. Neither Eccleston nor Tennant were THAT well known before they got the part, nor were past Doctors.

One thing about not having actually seen Paterson Joseph in action is that I'm not really disappointed with him not getting the part. I would have liked to have seen him get it, but I wasn't invested in it, you know?

Like you, I trust Moffat. I'm completely and totally waiting on any and all judgement until after the first several episodes air.

Oh, I'm aware that the Doctor is often an unknown. I had just liked the idea of Paterson Joseph getting it, and I'm a little disappointed that Smith is so young.

But Moffat's good enough that he should be able to redeem my doubts. ^_^ Now I just need more doctorage...
