A message to my Canadian pals

May 24, 2008 08:08

We're just about at the end of May...Lyme Awareness Month. I've talked some of our daughter's struggle with this disease...and how there's a political battle over the treatment of Lyme. As bad as it is down here...you guys have it worse because, whether someone gets the coverage for treatment is based ONLY on the absolute worst test out there... ( Read more... )

just read on canlyme that marie has an appt with an LLMD in california on tuesday; she's being flown privately (along with 2 or 3 other BC lyme patients). i'm praying for her. you are incredible, offering to open your home to her & her mother.

much love, always.

Oh darlin'...that is good news! Thanks so much for letting me know. I hope people will help the family with expenses...or in any way they can.

It's time for a people's revolution for health-care in North America. Once upon a time Canada had a great healthcare system...not anymore.

Willo and I love you like choklit! xoxoxoxoxo

that's really sad...but really great marie is going to CALI.

how fast does lyme disease "hit"? i mean, it doesn't affect a victim much later after the bite does it? my kids were bitten a lot about 6 months ago by fowl mites.

The problem is that there are no hard and fast rules to how it goes with anyone. In the last six months, have your kids shown any flu-like symptoms...achey joints...any behavioral differences? Did they show up with any rashes ( ... )

I just wandered over to your LJ to see who you were and have something to share that might help. Not sure if you've already heard of this or read about it, but anyway a young woman with Lyme was able to recover fully with a series of stem cell transplants, in India: http://healthcarehacks.com/the-india-story

I discovered her blog just before she left and followed the whole experience and found it amazing. So maybe your daughter could do the same and recover as well.

All the best.

Wow...thank you so much! I look forward to reading this blog (you've come up with something I haven't seen! TEN POINTS!! LOL)...looks really interesting..India having its own Lyme problem. In fact, the only continent NOT affected is Antarctica now. New cases in the States are coming in at nearly half a million...yearly. About fifteen percent go into chronic stage...mostly because of old guidelines.

I wish my daughter could travel...I wish I had the money to take her, if she could travel....but, we have a beautiful doc who has brought a lot of her back to us. Both Willo and I will be very interested to read another story of courage and hope. Thank you, thank you! xo maya

We did manage to get Marie down to California for treatment.
