Ha. I'm so sorry about the last few cryptic posts. It seems like either I don't post at all, or I only have time to write these short little posts that tell about 1 percent of the story. BUT, despite my last little post (which was mostly just my dark sense of humor coming through) I'm fine... this pregnancy has caused me to develop gestational ( Read more... )

oh my gosh tara -- so sorry to hear about the GD. are you on injections? it's scary enough learning the lifestyle when not preggers, i can't imagine the stress of worring about a little one inside, too. i don't know much about the condition but if you ever want to bitch about, oh, i don't know, the stupid glucose meters and finger pokes or whatever, you can always call. :)

also, sweetenceinte is for pregnant diabetics of all kinds (T1, T2, GD). traffic there is usually pretty slow, but it's a supportive community.

I think it's both stressful/motivational to be dealing with the GD. From what I understand (which is very little, by the way) all the extra insulin goes to the baby, which is why i have to be especially careful about food/exercise. I'm trying my best to be good about it.. i've got an appointment with a dietician later in the week. yay! haha. Baby is healthy so far, though, so I've just got to stay diligent about it.

Also, thankfully, no injections yet. My doc is hoping the strict program will keep it under control, although it tends to get worse later in pregnancy so it's good we caught it early and are dealing with it. It's also weird because although my stomach is huge, I'm gaining very little weight. Swollen all up from retaining water, though, haha.

Well that's exciting! WOW!
AND due in July hu? I'll be in the Chicago area in August! Perhaps I'll be able to meet both the little ones in person!

You have no idea how happy that would make me. A lot of people seem to think parent = dead. ha.

No way!
Plus, I look at it like this: I can't have a kid now.. so I'm living through you! I'm also glad you're doing this (before I do) so I can ask you all the weird questions ;)

Ha! Yay. I really would rather you just come live here, though. That way we could go to Medieval Times together.

In reference to weird questions, my mom was just saying how great it is that our generation can talk about all the crazily bodily stuff without being embarassed. I didn't mention to her that we once had a rather in-depth discussion re: female ejaculation. haha.

For someone in your condition who is always getting tired, you seemed in pretty good spirits. Hang in there. And, hopefully, this new addition doesn't mean you have to move to a new place again.

Ooooh...my mom had gestational diabetes with one pregnancy. Alas, we older kids were old enough to have control of our own diets, which meant we consumed a lot of sugar. I think she would have killed us if she didn't love us so much. I am CONFIDENT that you will handle it beautifully -- you, of course, still have control of what the other wee one dines on!

Congratulations again!
