Part One: here
“You know, when people say you are book smart but lack intelligence, they really mean it.” is the first thing Wonshik hears out of his hyung’s mouth before he even sits down. He places two mugs on the table- a coffee for Taekwoon (as usual) and a hot chocolate for himself. Usually when he has hot chocolate, the others always know something’s up. It’s his way of de-stressing himself. Taekwoon eyes the drink, and his eyes soften just enough to be barely noticed- Wonshik notices it anyway.

When he does sit down though, he retaliates with a little snark- “Y’know that’s not very nice to say. Your mother would be so disappointed in you right now.” “When have I ever cared?” “Clearly not now, hyung.” Wonshik pouts, subtly trying to gain his hyung’s favor. It doesn’t work, not from the snort he hears.

“In all seriousness, what make you help Hakyeon? You have less of an idea of who he is than I do. You aren’t a bad dancer by any means, but you’ve never done ballroom. I just want to understand.” Wonshik flushes a deep red listening to his hyung. “I just…I thought it was the right thing to do. He sounded so frustrated. And I guess-“ “Hyung don’t listen to his bullshit. He didn’t even realize whom he was talking to. He found out after he burned his hand on the coffee he was about to give Hakyeon-ah.”
Taekwoon smirks and nods, saying “Thank you, Sojin-noona. At least you’ll always tell the truth.” Wonshik hears her giggle, and promptly flips her off. “Yah be nice! I took over for your break! Be grateful I pity you, brat!” Sojin scolds Wonshik, who is adamant on not backing down from this. I don’t think I deserve this very much. Aish hyung why can’t you stand up for me?

His prayers were answered when another customer opened the door and walked inside. Sojin went back to her duties, and Wonshik faced Taekwoon once again. Starting off mumbling, head facing his lap, he explains his side to Taekwoon. “To be honest hyung, I don’t know why I decided in that moment to help him out. Maybe I felt bad for him? Maybe I wanted to learn ballroom? Maybe…maybe his voice was what drew me to help? I can’t tell you hyung. I really can’t.”

Wonshik becomes increasingly concerned when he doesn’t hear a single response from Taekwoon, so he looks up to find two wide eyes looking back at him. “Hyung…?” He waves his hand in front of Taekwoon, trying to catch his attention. “Y’know maybe your decision is something important. I’m going to sound like Hyuk for a moment, so I apologize in advance, but this may lead to something. You didn’t even see his face until after you had given him an answer. Maybe this is a good thing.” Wonshik is absolutely stunned he heard those words from Taek.

“Hyung you sure you don’t have a concussion or something? Hearing that come from you of all people is so unlikely.” But it’s such a refreshing though. You of all people can understand others the best. I hope you do well as a lawyer, I really do. “Eh you know me. Gotta be philosophical once in a blue moon.” Both males start to chuckle at Taekwoon’s sarcasm.

“Hyuk’s going to be so pissed knowing he missed hearing that from you.” He sees Taekwoon take the mug into his hands and raises it to his lips, snorting along the way. “Yeah well that’s what the brat gets for taking late classes and sleeping the morning away.” He takes a sip of his drink, and Wonshik follows his lead, taking a sip of his hot chocolate.

“Hey.” “Yeah hyung?” “I’ll help you out, y’know. I always will- that’s what best friends are for. Both you and Hyuk can always count on me.” Wonshik’s lips form an embarrassed smile. “Jeeze hyung, what’s made you so soft?” A pause. “Thanks, hyung. Hyuk and I always have your back as well.” Shik looks to his hyung to see a small smile grace his face. Hyung’s got such a nice smile, and I only noticed this now? Jeeze I guess I better ask Hyuk for more tips on getting people to open up to me. The damn psychology major always seems to know what to say.

The chair across from him scuffles across the floor, and Wonshik looks up to see Taekwoon getting up. “Going to class?” Taekwoon nods, pulling his shirt over his arm to take a look at his watch. “We’ve been sitting here for nearly an hour and a half.  I have class in 15 minutes, I need to get moving.” Wonshik nods, looking at his own watch. 1:45. I guess I should get back to work.

A thought pops up in Wonshik’s head. “Hey, hyung?” “Mmm?” “Did you ever get Jaehwan-hyung’s number by any chance? Have you talked to him recently?” Deemed innocent questions, Wonshik had assumed asking would bring him no trouble. He didn’t assume, however, that the response he got was to have his hyung scarlet faced as he bursts through the door to go outside.

“What did you do this time?” He is asked as he walks towards the counter. “Sojin-noona, if I knew what I did, I would tell you.” She nods at him, smilingly softly at him. He had no idea what he did to deserve the response from Taekwoon. He made a mental note to ask Hyuk if he knows why he got that response.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Work moves slowly until his shift is over. At 2:45, he places his apron in his work locker. Placing the apron on the hook, he moves to grab his shirt from the top of the locker. Taking off his black work shirt, he grabs his navy blue polo and puts it on. He takes off his work pants- and shoes- and puts on black jeans and grabs his timberland boots. Tying his shoes as he’s walking isn’t an extremely intelligent idea, but he makes it out to the front of the café with no problems, and tied shoes.

He makes his way to one of the empty tables by the windows, a giant mug of coffee in his hands. He sits down, and begins to pass the time by playing mindless games on his phone and drinks the coffee. As the minutes pass on, the games become more tedious than fun, and the coffee begins to dwindle until there is nothing left, he feels something nudging his right shoulder.

Looking up from his phone, he sees a huge grin directed at him. “Afternoon.” Wonshik greets him, nodding towards the seat across the table. “Thank you for waiting for me. Class got out a few minutes late, and I tried to get here as soon as I could.” Hakyeon tells him, and Wonshik notices his breath isn’t at a steady and easy tempo. He must’ve run from the campus building to the café. “You want anything? I was going to get a pastry.” He hears a bag thud onto the floor, and he hears a small chuckle. “I’m good, but thank you for the offer!” Wonshik nods, and goes up to the counter.

“At least tell me you asked if he wanted something.” Pouting, Wonshik whines to Sojin, “Noona I promise I asked. He said he’s good though. But I want a coffee cake. Please?” She shakes her head at him, and smiles while moving to the pastries. Giving her a cheeky grin, he pulls out the necessary money to give her. “Give him the second cake, and tell him it’s on us. Don’t you eat it, you ravenous glutton. Between you and Taekwoon, we may run out of pastries eventually.” Wonshik nods, and smiles as he takes the coffee cakes back to the table he and Hakyeon were sitting at.

“I like when the weather is like this. The gray sky takes over everything. It won’t rain until much later- at least that’s what the weather forecasted. But it’s still a nice day out. It isn’t too dark out that it looks depressing, but it isn’t so bright and sunny out.” Wonshik places the plate in the middle of the table, and listens to Hakyeon as he sits back down in his chair, legs crossed over one another. “Sorry, I get like that sometimes. Guess that’s the lit major in me.” He watches as Hakyeon lifts his hand over his mouth as he laughs softly.

Wonshik directs a warm smile at Hakyeon, saying, “That’s a really pleasant way of explaining it. I’m not pressed often enough for words that my vocabulary isn’t that big. But it’s nice hearing someone explain it like that.” You voice is what makes it so nice though- I could listen to you talk for hours. “Oh stop, you flatter me too much.” Hakyeon says, smiling at Wonshik. He revels in the faint blush adorning Hakyeon’s face.

“So, about this dance. How do you want to do it?” Wonshik asks as he breaks a piece of the coffee cake off and eats it. “Depends I guess. How good are you at ballroom dance?” Wonshik snorts, but covers it up quickly, responding with “I’ve honestly never done it, but I’m a fast enough learner that it’ll be no problem for me.” He laughs when he see’s Hakyeon’s jaw drop in surprise. “You…you don’t know any ballroom?” “None what so ever.” He watches Hakyeon melt into his seat, and laughs even harder. He startles when he sees Hakyeon launch out of his seat, placing his hands on the table and mumbles to himself.

“Oh my god and we only have a few weeks to get this done. Ok, you know nothing about this dance, so maybe…” Wonshik, wanting nothing more than to just calm Hakyeon down, takes the panicking boy’s hands into his own. “Hakyeon-ah, just take a deep breath and relax, ok? We’ve got this. Yeah I might not know much, but I am a fast learner. And with you as my teacher, I’ll do even better. We’ll be fine. You’ve got this. We’ve got this.” He says, smiling at Hakyeon, never losing his attention on the boy. Hakyeon’s face lights up. Please don’t tell me my face is as hot and red as I feel.

“Thank you, Wonshik-hyung. I needed that.” Wonshik cocks his head to his side, pondering for a moment. “Wait, did’ya just say hyung? I doubt you’re younger than me.” Hakyeon purses his lips, asking “What grade are you then? You must be a senior; I’ve never seen you on campus.” Wonshik shakes his head, “That’s cause I’m an engineering major. We have separate buildings than most of the other majors. And I’ve gotten almost all of my cores done, so I’m never in the main buildings. But I’m a sophomore.”

Wonshik laughs at the comical expression adorning Hakyeon’s face. “YOU’RE A SOPHOMORE?!” Hakyeon squeaks out. Wonshik laughs harder, nodding. “Oh my god. I thought you were older….WAIT! Address me as hyung, you little brat!” Cueing more laughing from Wonshik, he has to put his head on the table because he feels like he’s about to fall over, his head feels so light and fuzzy.

“Jesus hyung, are we going to need to get you a life stone or something? I think this hyung is taking your life from your hands, literally.” Eyebrows twitching, he curses under his breath as he looks to his side to see Hyuk towering above him. “Come at me, you baby-faced fucker.” He doesn’t realize what Hyuk said may actually be true, because he feels something squeeze his hands. Confused, he looks at his hands to feels his face burn a scarlet red. They hadn’t let go of each other’s hands. I don’t want to let go though.

“Wait a life stone? What does that mean?” Hakyeon asks, looking to Wonshik for answers. “Please don’t even ask, it’s a World of Warcraft reference. I got sucked in by this Neanderthal” -he says shifting his head in Hyuk’s direction- “and now the two of us and our hyung play the game with much gusto.”

He’s thrown for a loop when Hakyeon rips his hands from right under his own, throwing his hands up in excitement. “Oh my god I didn’t realize people here actually PLAYED world I thought it was only my friends and I, you guys should add us! Oh man taking on the Horde will be so much more fun now!”

Hakyeon doesn’t seem to realize how quiet and tense the other two boys got. “Hyung.” “Don’t say a word.” “Hyung he’s in the Alliance.” “Shut up maknae.” “HYUNG HE’S ONE OF THEM.” Wonshik untangles his legs and plants his foot down hard on one of Sanghyuk’s feet. “Fuck hyung what was that for?!”

(At this moment this is when Hakyeon realizes they aren’t paying attention to him, and almost complains when he hears what Wonshik has to say, and Wonshik nearly growls at Hyuk whilst saying this, thinking Hakyeon isn’t listening, “So what if he plays Alliance. Let him do his thing. He enjoys it. Don’t force your opinion onto him.” Neither of the boys realize Hakyeon is listening, and that Hakyeon’s face resembles a tomato.)

No one says anything for a moment until a fourth person comes along, sneering “Oh you must play Horde then. Good luck, you guys have nothing against us.” Both Wonshik and Hyuk look to the new addition, and Hakyeon rolls his eyes mumbling something no one can hear. “Hongbin, be nice.”

Hearing the name of the new person, Wonshik shifts his eyes to look at Hyuk, who is standing ramrod stiff. “Y’ok there, maknae?” A curt nod is thrown in his direction, and Wonshik can’t help but laugh at this absurdity. “Look, I’ll let you in on a little secret, Hongbin. We could cream you guys any day. You can’t win against the three of us.” Hongbin looks around playing innocent, and smirks when his eyes land back on Wonshik, saying “Three of us? Hyung I think you’re mistaken- Hakyeon-hyung’s ours. You have no third person.” Wonshik tries to squash the jealous feeling- where did THAT come from? - that has come over him when he hears that.

So Wonshik stands, moving next to Hyuk, and smirks at Hongbin. “Kid, you just have no idea, do you. Huh, such a shame.” He looks to Hyuk, nodding at him, and asks: “He is your hyung after all. You want to show him how it’s done?” Hyuk gives the most sadistic smile to Wonshik, and he has to ground himself from not shuddering. That looks always ends up getting them in trouble. “Gladly hyung,” Hyuk looks to Hongbin, “gladly.”

Wonshik looks to Hakyeon and bows slightly. “Sorry hyung, but I have class in an hour and I still have a paper I need to finish. Text me when you want to practice.” He nods his head toward the door, “C’mon maknae, we gotta get moving. Hyung might kick your ass if you aren’t present in the dorm.” “Hyung he’s always going to kick my ass.” Hyuk grumbles at Wonshik as he’s manhandled outside.

-------------------------------------------------------------------    “So you shut up real fast.” Hyuk hits Wonshik with his backpack, who laughs and dodges the blow. “Hyung fuck off.” “I didn’t realize that’s the Hongbin you keep pining over.” Hyuk grabs Wonshik and throws him into the side street they have just past. “Hyung you suck. Go fuck yourself. I’m letting Taekwoon know not to let you in the dorm.” As Wonshik picks himself up and dusts himself off, he barks out a laugh. “I’m pretty sure Taekwoon doesn’t want me in the dorm today anyway.” Hyuk stops walking and slowly shifts to face him, asking “What did you do this time?” Wonshik shrugs, and pats Hyuk on the shoulder.
“Y’know kid, I have no idea.” Hyuk shakes his head, and grumbles at him, saying “You stupid hyung.”

Neither of them remembered all of the dorms are in the same area. And wouldn’t luck have it, just a block away from them are Hakyeon and Hongbin walking, horrified at the conversation and violence that is going on ahead of them. “Should we help them out?” Hakyeon asks, concern pouring out of his voice and face in waves. Hongbin shakes his hand away from his body, pouting, “No, those assholes don’t deserve help. Who do they think they are, thinking they are better than us in a game we dominate in?”

Hakyeon stops walking, and gives Hongbin a flat look. “You’re not upset about that, you’re upset you didn’t get the other kids name.” Hongbin smacks Hakyeon’s arm, whining “Hyung that’s not true!” “Shut up brat, that’s exactly the reason why.” They begin to walk again in silence. “Hyung?” “Yeah?” “Do you know that guy’s name?”

Hakyeon smirks, but quickly feigns innocence. “I’m sorry dear, but I never heard his name. Wonshik-ah referred to him as maknae. If I had known better I would’ve asked.” Silence once again. Hakyeon looks to Hongbin, to see Hongbin’s head facing down, and a light blush adorning his cheeks. “Thanks anyway, hyung.” The boy sadly mumbles. God what have I done. Hakyeon shakes his head mentally, trying to not feel so bad for lying to his precious Bean.
