It made me sad. There were a few things I wished he'd not done, or had done differently in the first Hobbit movie (as well as a few things and one HUGE thing I wish he'd changed, or rather, NOT changed, in the Trilogy) -- but there were those places where I could see the respect for the work coming through, so I let the ones I didn't like go by. But this one it was thing after thing after thing, and ... just Grrrrrrrr. I read most of (and skimmed the rest of) the review you linked to, and it seems the things that upset the author were the things that annoyed me, but didn't piss me off. I didn't see reference to the things that pushed my buttons. Ah well. It was an awesome-beautiful movie, but the humor was aimed a bit lower and less dry than I prefer, and it wasn't the Hobbit that I have loved for probably most of 50 years. Other than that Mrs. Lincoln, how'd you like the play?
