It does feel a little like people are reinventing lj though.

A few people are coming back, but I still miss the old days. Facebook is not a decent replacement.

in the old days, there were few alternatives. so it's unlikely we could return to the old days. but i'm still seeing hopeful signs on G+. they don't have threaded messages, a feature debate the whole world has gotten WRONG, but i like the large and international userbase. one could say that about facebook except exposure to strangers is rare on fb, more common on G+.
