So we had a great run at the end-- winning the Wed-Sat AM KO bracket 2, and winning the Sat-Sun KO bracket 2. I'm quite proud of my boy Paul-- after five days of awful bridge he sacked up and played as well as I've seen him play. In our last match of the tournament, against Justin Lall, Kevin Bathurst, Shannon Cappelletti, Catalina Robles, and ( Read more... )

Responder gets 100% blame. If he was going to invite then he should have used 2h...3s. When youre playing the 2c...2s sequence you mentioned, that invite is looking for a max in HCP and the transfer-raise sequence is a shapely invite looking for good fit and controls.

No blame here. You and everyone else chose to play takeout doubles, which means you have to give up penalty doubles on hands like these.

Request that future hands be numbered so that respondents can refer to them more easily..tx!

OK, changed. Thanks for the tip.

So, systemically, 1N - 2C - 2R - 2S is the only way to invite with spades... 1N - 2H - 2S - 3S is forcing, looking for cuebids.

OK then I take back my assignment of blame. 50% to opener for not accepting and 50% to bad luck.

Oops clicked Post too early.

2) Definitely pass. I'm excited to pass. It's my immediate decision (but don't worry, I'll be good about putting the pass card down at the right speed for UI reasons or what not). To me, the question is more what's partner's hand and could they really not have stretched for a reopen, than should I have done something else.

Texas is quite reasonable. Texasing with a 6322 wouldn't be.

I think pass is 100%, but there were a few good players at the tournament that were shocked that I didn't pull out 3H. Nice to have a little validation....
